Autism Awareness

Episode Overview:

Autism is a bio-neurological developmental disability that affects 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42 boys. Autism impacts the normal development of the brain in the areas of social interaction, communication skills, and cognitive function. As the disorder affects people with different levels of severity, no two people with autism have the same exact case.  Individuals with autism typically have difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication, social interactions, and leisure or play activities.  They may also suffer from medical conditions, which may include: allergies, asthma, epilepsy, digestive disorders, persistent viral infections, feeding disorders, sensory integration dysfunction, sleeping disorders, and more.

Partha’s RX:

  1. There are several different stages of autism on the spectrum. No two people have the same case.

  2. Early detection and treatment is essential. It can have a huge impact on the health and overall well-being of the children and their families.

  3. There is growing evidence that nutrition can make a big difference in children with autism. A low grain, organic diet may help improve overall function.

  4. Autism speaks; the autism society and other support groups provide great resources for families with autism.
