Face Mask Myth Buster

Face Masks Protect You From COVID-19

If you are a professional health care worker using a tight-fitting respirator such as the N95, a mask can help you stay safe and to stay healthy. If you are the general public without any respiratory illnesses, those lightweight disposable is not recommended at all. These masks tend to not fit tightly and they may allow tiny infected droplets into the nose, mouth or eyes. Plus, too many people with the virus on their hands will touch their face under a mask. This can cause infection.

If someone is suffering from a respiratory illness, wearing a mask can help lessen their chance of infecting others in the vicinity. As a reminder, stocking up on face masks means fewer available for health care workers and the sick patients who truly need them.
