Do you knit?  Bake? Do pottery?  These hobbies are not just fun to do, but research is finding that they are also good for your well being.  Picking up a hobby can help you live a healthier and happier lifestyle.

Did you know that your hobby could be helping your health?  Researchers are finding that people who are active with hobbies tend to be healthier.  Getting into physical hobbies  promote good health. It burns the fat stored in your body and helps reduce the cholesterol levels. It also promotes better blood circulation which is good for the heart. It tones your muscles.  These hobbies not only benefit the body,  but also help in making your mind more alert and sharp.

Hobbies are a great de-stresser!  Research has discovered that people who partake in hobbies use them to reduce the stress levels in their bodies.   Science is finding that the hobby diverts the focus of attention away from the problem causing the stress and places it on the hobby. The researchers found that people who engaged in leisure activities were 34 percent less stressed and 18 percent less sad during the activities.

Hobbies are a great way of meeting new people especially if you enjoy social hobbies like dancing or sports.  Even hobbies that tend to be more one person hobbies can become a social setting.  With the internet and social media, it is easier to meet like minded individuals.   More interaction is great for the spirit and the body.
